The short daily train commuter journey begins at one bridge and ends at another with a single station stop between. When the chaotic imagery rests at the station, it enables the viewer to experience aspects of the drawing aligning with the video image thereby making sense of the work as a whole.
In creating the work I projected a lo-resolution video of the commute (created on a mobile phone circa 2000) onto paper the size of a train window. I repeatedly drew the journey using items I would have had during my journey including stationery, make-up and coffee, re-enacting the daily act of observation.
The video here is a compilation of the drawing and the projection. When exhibited the original footage is looped and projected onto the drawing in a private intimate darkened room and becomes a hypnotic meditation on the repetitious nature of the journey.
